Oct 21, 2010 – Lausanne, Switzerland  October 4, 2010  IMD launched today an interactive online contest called Go Beyond What You Think is Possible. Unique to the education sector, the contest gives participants the chance to win an executive education program and become a part of IMDs alumni network. Go Beyond What You Think is Possible is designed around IMDs values: Open, Collaborative and Pioneering. The contest is played in three steps, challenging participants through:

London Photographic Association presents Strange Bedfellows exhibition at the Assembly Rooms Nov 3rd

Oct 21, 2010 – Artist Sue Golden has curated a photographic art exhibition for LPA/Gallery 1839 opening in Soho, London. In this exhibition, called Strange Bedfellows, the tapestry of life is exposed with all its complexities. Here the everyday contrasts with the enigmatic and exceptional, the obvious with the unusual. What’s particular in this presentation is the questions the image groupings provoke - what does a beguiling hybrid feline Tokyo Sphinx cat have to do with a Korean man dressed as a female British noblewoman? Perhaps a commonality of isolated lives.

Strange Bedfellows is a contemporary, eclectic mix of international photographers’ images. Golden has utilised her work experience, artistic perception and a ‘catholic’ eye in choosing a diverse range of images and combinations. Extensive research was undertaken from the sites resulting in a striking conceptual show that relates to the highs and lows of modern times: the contrasts and disparities, the illusions and realities, the unconventional and the ordinary.

All the photographs have been chosen from the fine art, commercial, established and up-and-coming photographers’ collections at the London Photographic Association and Gallery 1839.

Event Information:

The Korean Grand Prix is a planned Formula One race to be held in South Korea. After months of speculation, on October 2, 2006 it was confirmed that the event would actually take place in 2010, and would be hosted by the Korean International Circuit, set to be built between 2007 and July 2010. It has also been revealed that the race will be promoted by a public-private company. The deal is for seven years with a five year option that would ensure the race to be held until 2021

Despite this earlier confirmation, the South Korean Grand Prix was not included on any of the provisional 2010 calendars floated by Formula One Management. Following approval of funding for the event, however, Korea was given the date of 17 October on the 2010 calendar published by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) on 21 September 2009.

On December 10, 2009, the organisers of the event announced that they were on schedule, with a plan to finish the circuit on July 5, 2010, though they admitted that their largest problem lay in finding accommodation for all Formula One staff and spectators. The organisers also ruled out the possibility of staging the race at night until they have more knowledge of and experience in running a Grand Prix

Sony PSP tops 2010 list of ‘most returned tech gadgets’

Oct 21, 2010 – Research and purchase return statistics from the UK’s leading discount voucher code website has found the top ten ‘most returned tech gadgets’ of 2010, with Sony’s PSP handheld console topping the list. According to return information, 6.2% of PSPs are returned.

A related survey of 1,833 people by www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk found that 62% of Brits have returned technology purchases in the last year, with 34% suggesting that ‘disappointment’ with the purchases was the main reason for doing so.

Sony feature three times in the list of most returned gadgets, with their Reader eBook listed at 7th on account of the percentage of units returned and Sony netbooks in at tenth, across a large number of retailers listed through MyVoucherCodes.co.uk.

41% of the respondents that said they have returned products said that having bought a product, they often return it when they weigh up whether or not they can actually afford to keep it, both in terms of the initial cost and ongoing costs.

17% said that they were often influenced to buy products based on ‘hype’. Of the people that admitted to purchasing a product due to hype, the returns rate was higher, with 82% saying they’d returned technology purchases in the last year.
